Boredom. Such was the state of one Hufflepuff by the name of Renee Wolfe, and she was not the least bit happy about it. In fact, she was starting to wonder whether one could die out of sheer boredom. In all her life, she had yet to hear about such a thing, let alone witness it, but she had no doubt that if it were to happen, it would definitely be fun to watch. Maybe the afflicted would suffer from excruciating pain before finally succumbing. Or maybe it would cause them to melt... "Don't be idiotic Renee, there's no way one could die out of boredom alone." she scolded herself, earning a few weird glances from the people around her, to whom she promptly smiled, as if this was the most normal thing in the world. As soon as they had returned to whatever they were doing before, she resumed her monologue.
"Yes, that would be unlikely. But one could end up killing themselves because they were bored. Yes, that is possible. Stupid, but possible." The female Hufflepuff nodded, satisfied with her conclusion. "GAH! What does it matter? I'm still bored, not dying from it and most definitely not willing to kill myself in hopes to end that!" She exclaimed, throwing up her hands in defeat. And this time, people were really giving her weird looks. Renee chuckled nervously. "It's... hmm... a line from a book I'm reading?" she tried, in hopes they would buy the lie. To her surprise, it actually worked - they still looked at her like there was something very wrong in her head, but left her alone. Grinning, she moved to a less crowded place, so as to avoid attracting more unwanted attention.
"But really, why is it than whenever I have some free time, nothing happens " she asked herself, careful enough to keep her voice down and sighed, as she made her way through the grounds towards the lake, happy to find her usual hanging spot empty. Renee let her body fall down to the soft fresh grass and leaned against the tree trunk, sighing in contempt. One might wonder if she was bored why was she all by herself. Well, that was pretty simple actually. Being around people didn't help very much, unless of course, said people were planning a prank. But since that wasn't the case, she'd rather be by herself.
Glancing up at the tree branches, the female smirked as she remembered the last time she had climbed up a tree. It had been a long time ago, when she was around six or seven back then and she had fallen off, breaking her harm and her leg in the process. She still had a scar on her knee from that. Chewing on her bottom lip, the female wondered if she could do it. Well, it was worth a try, even if she was in her uniform.
Taking of her robe, the female gripped the closest branch with both hands and hoisted her body up. After a bit of struggling, she managed to secure herself on said branch. From there, she climbed to an higher one (not so high she would hurt herself much if she fell) and leaned against the tree trunk once again. After all it hadn't been that hard.
Now, she found herself with nothing to do. Again. Great.

Harper was the type of person that had a hard time letting her guard down. She was constantly scared of feeling vulnerable or getting hurt so she distanced herself from people which made it hard for her to make friends. She did have some friends, very few close ones, but not as much as she would like. Some people saw her as 'stuck up' which was far from true. She could be the nicest person anyone has ever met, if you don't cross her. She is a slightly scary person when crossed but that is another story.
Once thing that Harper enjoys to do is write. All her life she had always had a flare for words and expressing herself verbally. She would often create fictional stories when she was younger and would tell them to her parents. They were always so full of adventure and excitement. To this day, she continues to write stories and keep them in a small book, or should I say books, under her bed. Whenever she got a free moment, she would haul out her book and write some kind of story that was wandering around in her head. Very few people knew that she did this. She liked to keep her writing a private matter. Then again, she liked to keep her whole life a private matter.
Harper always needed a destination. She couldn't just simply wander around with no set place in mind for her to arrive at. She needed to know where she was going, have a plan as to how she would get there and make sure that nothing went wrong along the way. She always needed to be in control of every situation that she was involved in. Though she is very quiet at times, when it comes down to her future or things that impact her she will not let anything go wrong. Some would call her a control freak, if they got close enough to know her that is.
Today, her destination was the outdoors. After being cooped up n the castle for her classes she knew that she needed at least some bit of fresh air. Gathering her stuff after class, Harper set off down the stairs and out the door to the castle grounds. As soon as she stepped on the stone pathway she felt a smile come across her lips and her head start to sing in delight. Every breath she took made her lungs feel refreshed which made her smile even more. There was nothing like a nice long walk outside after a hard day's work in classes.
Harper began to walk along the path for a bit before she found herself stepping off the stone and stepping onto the freshly cut grass. She continued to walk for a bit before she stopped to take her school robe off and to shove it into her bag. Once she put it in the bag, she raised her eyes again and scanned the scenery around her. Her eyes landed upon a tree and what appeared to be a girl leaning against the tree. Since Harper had a hard time seeing things from a distance, she reached in her bag and pulled out her glasses, putting them on. The once blurred image became clearer and she could see Renee.
Harper and Renee had been friends for quite some time now. They had first met when Renee had pranked her, and then Harper cursed her which resulted in them both being sent to see the Headmaster. After talking a bit, the two became friends. Renee was one of the few people that Harper could actually call a friend. Smiling, she made her way over to Renee, shoving her glasses back in her bag in the process. She did hate wearing those things.
"Hey Renee," Harper smiled, arriving a few feet away from the girl. It was hard to ever tell was was going through Renee's mind. She was really a random type of person to Harper, which was refreshing. Everyone in Ravenclaw were so serious so it was nice to talk to a random, fun person like Renee. "How have you been?" Harper asked, wanting to be polite. Now that Renee was with her, she knew that the rest of her day would be very eventful.

If only she had brought a book with her, she would have had something to do before it was time to head back to the castle for dinner. Well, she could always summon one from her room, if she was that desperate... Nah. Besides, she had already read the books she had brought with her, and summoning one from the library might not be a great idea. Chewing on her bottom lip, the female pondered what to do, her gaze lingering on the grounds that spread around her. Then it dawned on her. She could always draw it. After all, it had been something she had been wanting to do for a long time now, but for some reason, she had never had the opportunity.
If there was something the female could claim as a talent, it would be drawing. And in fact, she did just that. It was just something Renee was good at, and had been ever since she could remember. It was her thing, so to speak. That and photography. But she had only found her passion for it a while after coming to Hogwarts, once she saw how wizarding photos worked. Of course she still liked the muggle ones, but it was so much cooler to see the picture moving like it had a life of her own. Now, she couldn't really say she was a particularly talented photographer, she still had a long way to go to be able to call herself that. And that was why she preferred to draw things, if given the chance.
That was also why the young Hufflepuff seemed to carry a black notebook with her everywhere she went. It wasn't just the observers imagination, she did carry the small thing with her everywhere she went. Her little sketch book. One of many, in fact, and one that was already halfway through. She couldn't really help it, Hogwarts was just so... drawable. During her first years, people would often find her, sitting alone at a desert hallway, staring the the arched ceilings or at the stairs and drawing them, completely immersed in her own little world. Over the time she had also begun to add in some people, and even some less detailed versions of the paintings that lined the walls.
But for some reason, she had never drawn the courtyard. Well, not like this anyway. Mostly, she had drawn the Whomping Willow, the greenhouses, and some other random elements. But not like this. Her current position gave her a pretty good view over the grounds, and she couldn't help but think she had to try and draw that.
She was just preparing to summon her notebook and drawing material when a voice called up to her, making her turn her attention to the base of the tree in order to find Harper. She smiled at the older girl. How the two of them had become friends was still funny given that Renee had pranked Harper, and Harper had hexed Renee as a payback. Yeah, a great way to start a friendship isn't it? Well, what can she say, detention works wonders.
"Hey Harper" she greeted, leaning a bit from the branch she was currently perched upon in order to see the other girl better. "Oh you know... same old same old. Being bored and wondering if people can actually die from it. How've you been?" she asked cheerfully, grinning at the older girl.
